MORE than 500 students, parents and friends attended an open evening at Belper School.
They were there to find out what the school has to offer.
Attractions included the jelly-baby toboggan race in the science department, and the Haiku competition run by the English department.
Table tennis was available in the hall, where the new theatre is nearing completion, and visitors tried out their musical skills on the keyboards in the music rooms.
There were some very tricky problems for those interested in maths and a number of families were using their combined brain-power to solve them.
Headteacher Trevor Harding said he was interested to see the range of activities on offer and praised the efforts of the students and staff who made this possible.
He said: “Every year there is something new and it is especially good to see the enthusiasm of the younger children who attend. They are future students who will soon be an integral part of our community.”
