Orchestra hits 60th birthday
DERBY Concert Orchestra's 60th anniversary concert is to take place at Derby Cathedral on Saturday, March 6.
The concert will feature performances of Suppe's Pique Dame Overture, played in the orchestra's first concert in 1950, plus Strauss's First Horn Concerto, Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony, plus the Nocturne from Mendelssohn's music to A Midsummer Night's Dream.
The soloist will be Robert Ashworth, the concert begins at 7pm and the conductor will be Jonathan Trout.
Tickets cost 15 and are available from the Cathedral Shop, Foulds Music, from orchestra members and on the door. Under 16s get in free when accompanied by an adult.
Light refreshments and a glass of wine are included in the ticket price.
