Orchestral delights
THE Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing at Derby's Assembly Rooms on March 24 from 7.30pm.
Conductor Andrew Litton will be leading the orchestra through performances of Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite No 1, a selection of Mozart operatic arias with soprano soloist Laura Aikin, and Mahler's Fourth Symphony, which also features her as soloist in its final movement.
The suite contains Grieg's well-known movements Morning and In The Hall Of The Mountain King while the symphony is Mahler's shortest offering, innocent and spooky by turns.
