A MAN who dumped roofing felt in the middle of a picturesque country lane has been prosecuted and ordered to serve a six-month community order for fly tipping.
Richard Morley, 30, of no fixed address, was spotted dumping the material on Sandy Lane in Coxbench from a white Vauxhall pick up truck last June.
Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court heard how Morley said that he had got lost, turned around at the top of the lane and as he was travelling back down, the trailer door came open and the materials in the back came off. The court also heard how witnesses challenged Mr Morley at the time of the offence before calling the police and the council to report him.
Morley pleaded guilty to the offence at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court earlier this month and was given a six-month community order with an 80 hour unpaid work requirement and ordered to pay costs of £1,000.
