Almost a third of all the fines handed out to parents who took their kids out of school during term time remain unpaid in the county.

Since the fines were introduced in September 2013, Derbyshire County Council has handed out 1,314 penalty notices for unauthorised absence, racking up £58,800 for the council. But 353 penalties remain unpaid, with many parents refusing to pay the money.
