YOUNG fundraisers clubbed together on Friday to put a charity drive on course.

The British Heart Foundation held a special day at Chevin Golf Course in Duffield in which 34 players took to the fairway.

And it proved a great money-making day, with one player, Warren Carr of Long Eaton School, even hitting a hole-in-one.

Organiser Eric Moore said: “We had a nearest the pin competition on the fourth hole, Warren was the second player to play it and set an impossible task!

“It was a very successful day and there was plenty of sunshine.

“We managed to raise £3,273, which is more than we had anticipated. Last year we got over £4,000 but that was exceptional.

“As the organiser I would like to pay tribute to the players and the helpers who were involved.”

The winning team from Chevin Golf Club will now go onto a national final to be played in Newcastle in July.
