TWO people were taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries after their car collided with a telegraph pole in Heanor.
Three people were travelling in the Honda Civic when it hit the pole on Ilkeston Road at 10.30pm on Saturday.
A spokesperson for Derbyshire Fire Service said the top part of the wooden pole was snapped and was hanging ‘perilously’ - making it a danger to the public.
A man and a woman were taken on spine boards to hospital and a third person was treated at the scene by paramedics.
Firefighters from Ilkeston and Heanor made the vehicle safe and used absorbent pads to contain a petrol spillage.
A BT engineer cut the telephone lines and removed the pole. Fire crews left the scene at 00.35am.
