CLEVER children from the Belper area have helped pupils across Derbyshire outperform schools throughout the country.
National test results for 11 and 14-year-olds show that they have achieved a higher standard than their contemporaries.
Derbyshire County Council has welcomed the news which shows maths results are four per cent above the national average, English is three per cent above, while writing is four per cent more.
It means Derbyshire is at the top of its group of similar authorities in all subjects and at all levels of performance.
Cllr Mike Longden, the county council’s Cabinet member for education, was delighted. He said: “I would like to congratulate all our schools, their pupils, teachers and governors, for their hard work in achieving such wonderful results.”
