an inquest into the death of a woman who died after being pulled from the River Derwent in Milford has been opened and adjourned.
Benidict Manangazira, 38, of Millers Way, was pronounced dead after being pulled from the river and airlifted to hospital.
The inquest at Derby and South Derbyshire Coroner’s Court heard police were called at 8.08am on Saturday, March 19, after a female was reported to be in the water near to Foundry Lane.
An officer entered the river and started CPR. But a combination of the body being too heavy in the fast-flowing river meant she could not be lifted from the water until the fire service arrived with an inflatable boat. Benidict, a student nurse, was pronounced dead at 9.40am. Her body was identified by husband Eddimore Manangazira.
