A Holbrook schoolgirl raised more than £900 for Breast Cancer Care after completing a bracing mile-long swim around Loch Lomond in Scotland.
Rosie Roberts, 13, of Millers Lane, in the village entered the Great Scottish Swim after months spent training at the Heanor leisure centre pool and at various ‘open water’ sites around the country.
She said: “It was a wonderful day competing in the beautiful surroundings and what a fantastic experience. A big thank you to everyone who sponsored and supported me.”
Rosie even got interviewed by Olympic open water swimming silver medallist Keri–Anne Payne for Channel Four after the event, which attracted more than 2,000 competitors in August.
