Rotary thanks for donations

MEMBERS of the Rotary Club of Belper and Duffield raised more than £2,000 for charity with a number of collections during the Christmas period.

Now, the club is extending its thanks to the members of the public who donated cash.

Rotary member Gail Ashley said: “We would like to sincerely thank the people of Belper, Duffield and surrounding areas for their generosity, in these difficult economic times, in contributing to this sum.”

A street collection on December 23 on King Street, Belper, raised £541.63, despite appalling weather.

The rest of the cash came from collections at Morrisons in Belper, and from when the Rotary’s Santa sleigh toured the area.

Rotary will decide over the next few weeks which charities to donate the cash to.
