AN ENERGETIC girl from Belper is spinning her way to a dream trip to South America.

Ruby Sterland, 15, joined friends from Derby High School in raising £250 by taking turns spinning at Branston Golf and Country Club in Burton-on-Trent.

She and the four other girls were taking part in the challenge in a bid to raise money to go on the trip of a lifetime to Nicaragua.

The trip is being arranged by World Challenge and students taking part must raise £3,500 before July next year.

Ruby was joined by Georgina Wright, Georgia Carr, Emily Brockwell and Sophie Lazenby.

Georgina’s mother, Tina Wright, said: “It went very well. They cycled from 9am to 4pm in 10-minute bursts.

“My daughter felt a bit stiff the next day but they all really enjoyed it.

“It was very kind of Branston Golf and Country Club to let them have the event there.”
