Rural rail is being left out

A NATIONAL campaign has been launched to make sure rural railway services, such as the Belper to Matlock, line are not forgotten in planned reforms.

The Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) is urging ministers to show the same level of ambition for rural railways as it does for long distance and urban services.

Ralph Smith, senior transport officer for CPRE, said: “The focus on city-regions means country dwellers are being left out.”
