A Heanor woman is set to scale the UK’s highest peak for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).
Barbara Reyes will join a team of over 100 people to climb the 4,400 ft high Ben Nevis this September – raising £60,000 in sponsorship to support the NSPCC’s work with vulnerable children and families in Derbyshire and across the UK.
‘Handywoman’ Barbara, who makes vintage style signs, said: “I decided to take part because a very good friend of mine is a volunteer for the NSPCC and I thought it would be a good way of not only supporting a fantastic cause, but would also show the support I have for my friend.
“I do like a good challenge. I am looking forward to testing myself on this challenge and wondering how I will feel when I first look up at the top before the long ascent!”
Trekkers taking part in the NSPCC’s Ben Nevis Challenge, between September 27-29, will climb to the summit and enjoy breath-taking panoramic views.
Registration is open to anyone over the age of 18.
Each participant will pay a £75 registration fee and is encouraged to raise at least £500 sponsorship. visit www.nspcc.org.uk/bennevis, email email@example.com or phone 0844 892 11190844 892 1119.
