Student Clare Borradaile is toasting her success after an outstanding set of GCSE results.
The 16-year-old, who studies at Derby High School, achieved seven A*s and two As.
Clare, from Belper, said: “I didn’t expect to get those grades.
“I was waiting for the email but I was looking on my parents’ email and then I realised it would be coming to my email address.
“I was very happy. I only came back from Ireland last night so I’ve not been thinking about my results too much.
“My dad was at work so I rang him and he was really happy.”
Clare will be staying on at Derby High School to study English, French, History and Spanish at A-Level.
At Derby High School, 100% of students achieved five A*-C grades, including English and Maths, with 98% of all grades at C above.
Denise Gould, headteacher at the school, praised Clare and her fellow pupils for their excellent results.
She said: “We are very proud that our students’ efforts have been rewarded with such outstanding grades.
“Alongside the considerable commitment to their academic studies, this year group has made an exceptional contribution to school life through a host of extra-curricular activities.”
