AN AIR ambulance charity shop in Belper has celebrated its first birthday.

Staff and volunteers at the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland (DLRAA) shop on King Street enjoyed a brisk day of trading, a raffle, competition and tombola.

There was even a fly-past by the air ambulance helicopter!

Shop manager Julie Wells said: “It was an amazing day. There was a wonderful atmosphere and it was so good to see so many of our volunteers and customers, old and new, pop in to help us celebrate.

“Belper town crier Terry Porter made sure that everyone in the vicinity knew where we were and what was happening! It was a great way to mark our first birthday and a big thank you to everyone involved in the shop. We all look forward to an even better second year of trading in Belper.”
