Specsavers in Belper hosted a special fundraiser on Saturday to celebrate Guide Dogs Week.

Guest of honour was trainee guide dog Waffle, while staff member Anna Wheatley donned a giant dog costume and helped colleagues distribute goody bags.

Another highlight was a ‘cutest dog’ photo competition judged by members of the public.

First prize was a designer watch donated by Zhivago Jewellery, with runner-up prizes of a £125 voucher for Specsavers and a selection of chocolates and dog treats.

Annie Fletcher, optical advisor at the King Street store, said: “Everyone got involved and we received lots of entries. In fact there was so many entries that they filled the noticeboard and spilled over onto the wall.”
