BELPER Town Council has hosted a reception for sponsors of floral displays in the town.

Bright flowers and plants helped the town secure a second successive East Midlands in Bloom title.

So the council wanted to thank those who had help make the award possible.

A council spokeswoman said: “It was just a small gesture of thanks to the sponsors of Belper’s floral displays this year.

“The support and generosity we have received has been much appreciated and has certainly helped to make the town look so attractive and help us to achieve the prestigious ‘In Bloom’ Gold award.”

The town’s Mayor and Mayoress Cllrs Alan and Jackie Cox attended the event at the council’s headquarters at St John’s Chapel. Sponsors included Meadow Court, Nelson Distribution and Lucia and Geoffrey Alton. Geoffrey is a partner in Belper-based accountant firm Hunter Jones and Alton.
