A Belper woman’s garden has won her a top prize for the second year in a row.

Susan Lees, of Alder Road, successfully defended her best overall garden title in the Futures Homescape gardening competition, which celebrates tenants who look after their gardens to make their communities more attractive.

Susan said: “It was a surprise to win last year, so I’m delighted to have won again.”

Susan’s front garden, which is awash with different coloured flowers and plants, swayed the judging panel in the end.

Judge Gordon Lindley, who is an involved tenant with Futures Homescape, said: “It really is a beautiful garden, we know from last year how much effort Susan puts into it.

“There were some fantastic entries this year and it was a really close contest.”
