A FAMOUS cleaning product that was invented by a company now based in Denby is celebrating its 65th birthday.

Swarfega was a pioneering product invented by Deb Ltd in 1947. It has been labelled as a ‘Minor British Institution’ by The Independent.

To mark the birthday, Swarfega has launched an official page on social networking site Facebook.

Phil Spark, marketing director at Deb, said: “Swarfega, a great British brand, was a pioneering product invented by Deb in 1947 and we are delighted to be celebrating its 65th birthday by launching an official Swarfega Facebook page. With the spotlight on the UK this year, it certainly is the right time to highlight what makes Britain great!”
