A TEAM that provides help and advice to homeless people in the Belper area has been shortlisted for two top awards.
Amber Valley Housing’s Homeless Team works in partnership with Amber Valley Borough Council to help those in need of emergency accommodation and supports those at risk of becoming homeless.
It has been named as a finalist by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) Housing Heroes Awards for Frontline Team of the Year, and also the Tenant Participation Advisory Service (TPAS) for Best Practice in Supporting People (Midlands).
Last year the service gave advice to 800 people and prevented 192 of those from becoming homeless. This financial year it has prevented 243 people becoming homeless.
Cllr Norman Bull said: “These nominations recognise the important work the partnership does to tackle homelessness in the borough.”
