BELPER and surrounding villages are gearing up for Remembrance Sunday services.
This year it falls this Sunday, November 13.
Before that, on Friday, November 11 in Belper, there will be a two-minute silence at the War Memorial in the town’s Memorial Gardens, on King Street, at 11am. It is organised by the town council and all are welcome.
Then, two days later, the town council’s Remembrance Sunday events will start with a wreath-laying ceremony at 10am in the Memorial Gardens. It will be followed by a two-minute silence.
A parade will then make its way to St Peter’s Church, on Chesterfield Road, for a service that starts at 10.15am.
In Milford on Sunday there will be a service at the Holy Trinity Church from 10am.
In Kilburn, the Remembrance Sunday parade starts on Bown Close at 2pm and heads to the War Memorial, before a service in the village’s Baptist Church.
Also, a Remembrance Sunday service is taking place at Turnditch All Saints’ Church from 10.55am. It will be followed by a short service of remembrance and laying of wreaths at the village war memorial.
