belper Town Council will not be spending a penny when it comes to two public toilet blocks in the town.
Councillors have refused to take over the running of the toilets from Amber Valley Borough Council.
The borough council is trying to save money by offering them to the smaller authority.
The two toilet blocks — one on The Triangle and the other on Strutt Street — cost the borough council a total of £6,836 to run last year.
Belper Mayor Cllr John Nelson said the town council decided against the takeover because of what it would cost the authority.
In the previous year The Triangle block had cost £1,353 to maintain, while the Strutt Street facilities cost £5,483 to run.
