delighted Tom Litchfield picked up first prize in a Belper building society’s Easter raffle.

He won a bumper hamper after entering the prize draw run by Britannia which is part of the Co-operative, which is based on King Street in the town.

Tom was presented with his prize by staff at the branch.

The raffle was part of a year’s worth of collections being done by the building society in aid of the charity Mencap.

A total of £158 was raised thanks to the raffle.

Lisa Williams, of Britannia, said: “All the staff would like to thank customers and the people of Belper for their generosity during our Mencap day collection and for their ongoing support.

“A total of £177 was raised on Mencap day.”

The building society also has an ongoing book sale, which has contributed to a total of £435 raised during the year for the charity. Mencap is Britannia’s chosen charity for the year. It is the leading UK charity for people with a learning disability and their families.
