Reports of a trespasser on the tracks at Belper train station sparked a full scale search.
Officers from British Transport Police and Derbyshire Police attended the incident shortly after 5.30pm on Wednesday, December 19.
National Rail and East Midlands Trains initially said a person had been hit by a train.
However, a British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers were called to Belper rail station following a report from a driver of a person trespassing on the tracks. A full search of the station and tracks was carried out, but no–one was found.”
