MILFORD photographer Ashley Franklin has landed a top award.

He has won the Society of Professional Imagemakers Landscape Photographer of the Year Award 2011 for his image of a Tuscany scene at dawn.

He said it was a prestigious award and was the culmination of a year of effort. Members are invited to enter a single image in the society’s monthly competition, with the Gold Award winners considered for nomination for the Photographer of the Year prize. There were more than 500 entries in the Landscape competition in 2011, of which 45 earned Gold.

He said: “The standards are always very high and I was thrilled just to be one of the six nominated.

“So, to be adjudged the best out of 45 Gold award entries is a supreme honour.

His winning shot, along with other Tuscany pictures, is on display at Angelo’s Restaurant, Hopping Hill, Milford.
