TV stolen off elderly woman

A THIEF has stolen a television from an elderly woman in Belper after tricking his way into her home.

The woman, in her 90s, lives off John O’Gaunts Way in the town.

She let a man into her home between 10am and 10.30am on Thursday, May 12.

He kept her talking and after he left she realised a Sanyo 32-inch flat screen television had been taken from her bedroom.

She has described the intruder as white, about 5ft 8in tall, of slim build, and with fair hair.

He was clean shaven and smartly dressed.

Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to the burglary and are also warning people not to allow any strangers into their home.
