Police are continuing their investigation into a fatal crash near Kimberley which has resulted in the death of a woman.
Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that a woman has died following a road traffic accident involving two motorcycles.
An air ambulance was called to the scene. A motorcyclist is also believed to be in critical condition.
A spokesperson said: “Unfortunately we have one fatality - a woman. Police are still at the scene, I have no more information than that.”
The incident occurred just before 3pm today between the Ikea and B&Q Islands near Eastwood and Kimberley.
A witness at the scene said she was driving to her home in Heanor when the accident took place.
“I reckon I was one of the first diverted off the A610 at Ikea as there was no major traffic build up before then,” she said.
“I’m so upset about that poor woman. My most sincere thoughts are with her family.”
Police and paramedics are at the scene and roads are closed in both directions and will remain so for several hours while enquiries are ongoing.
