The wait is over for GCSE students who were collecting their results this morning.

At Belper School, 74 per cent of students achieved A*-C grade passes in their exams.

Headteacher, Trevor Harding, said: “This is a pleasing set of results and we offer congratulations to those many students who achieved their targets.”

Meanwhile at John Flamsteed School in Denby, teachers were reporting the school’s best ever GCSE results.

Eighty - four per cent of students achieved five or more GCSE higher grades (A*- C) in all subjects.

Headteacher, Danny Holden, said: “This strong performance reflects the sustained efforts of students, with support from staff, across the full range of abilities and aptitudes.

“Gifted and talented students have performed particularly well, with exceptional outcomes for our most able students. Nearly a quarter of all students achieved three or more A*- A grades.”
