Five warning notices were issued to Amber Valley taxi drivers during a spot check by inspectors.
The advisory notes were given out following an inspection of wheels, tyres, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, seatbelts, lights, washers, wipers, road safety aspects and cleanliness by police and the borough council,
A spokesman for Amber Valley Borough Council said: “Local taxi operators were happy to co-operate in the exercise which involved vehicles being thoroughly inspected inside and out. A total of 18 vehicles were inspected.
“Five advisory notices were issued to have small problems rectified within 14 days.
“The failure rate on inspected vehicles was just 5.5 per cent which is considered low.”
