The Met Office has issued a yellow weather for the East Midlands as snow and sleet may is expected to continue today.
An area of rain, sleet and snow will come southeastwards into the area later lasting into Friday, April 29, settling with between 5-10cm likely in higher areas.
The chief forecaster said: "A depression moving eastwards across northern parts of Northern England on Thursday evening will bring cold air in its wake, causing showery outbreaks of rain to turn to snow, principally on hills but also to low levels at times."
A few bright and sunny spells are also forecast today, with clouding and some heavy rain turning brighter later on. Temperatures will drop down to 1 degree centigrade tonight, but skies will remain clear with some light winds and frost in rural areas.
Please be aware of the risk of difficult driving conditions and disruption to transport.
