Derbyshire legend and whisky fan Jack Reynolds – who reached the grand old age of 104 last month – has had a visit from the master blender at Famous Grouse.

Kirsteen Campbell surprised the great-grandfather by travelling to his Hollingwood home last Thursday to present him with a specially-engraved Famous Grouse trophy to mark his birthday and pay tribute to his charitable efforts.

Kirsteen also gave Jack the Famous For A Reason book, which tells the story of the UK’s best-selling whisky brand.

She said: "Jack's work is extremely admirable and his story is Famous for a Reason just like our brand. We wanted to raise a glass with Jack in celebration of his life and mark the occasion sharing his favourite dram. I hope our visit leaves him with a fond memory of when his favourite whisky brand came to visit."

Giving the secret to a long and happy life, Jack once famously said: "Work hard, always smile, get plenty of fresh air and last but not least have a tot of Grouse whisky in your tea in the morning and a tot before bed."

Jack hit headlines around the globe last month when he became the oldest Brit to get a tatoo for his 104th birthday.

Not only did he enter the Guinness World Records book, he also raised more than £2,500 for Ashgate Hospicecare.

And at the age of 102 in summer 2014, lifelong Derbyshire resident Jack completed the ice bucket challenge dressed in nothing but a pair of Union Jack boxer shorts, raising thousands of pounds for the ALS Foundation.

He then celebrated with a glass of whiskey.
