A 58-YEAR-old woman has died after being in collision with a car in Little Eaton.

The accident happened yesterday, Tuesday, January 11, at 5.45am outside the post office at the junction of Alfreton Road and The Town.

The woman, who police said was local, but had not yet named, was on foot.

A police spokeswoman said: “The woman was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital with serious multiple injuries.” She added that the woman died in hospital at 9.15am.

Police say the car involved in the collision was a Daewoo Lanos. The male driver was not injured.

Alfreton Road was closed from the roundabout linking the A38 to the junction with Morley Lane. It remained shut until 9.40am.

Little Eaton Primary School on Alfreton Road was also closed. A message on the school’s website read: “We are closed today on police advice following a very serious accident outside school.

“We will send out further information later today, as soon as we are able.”

The police spokeswoman said: “We are investigating and we appeal for any witnesses to come forward.”
