Ambergate 203-3 beat Belper Amateurs 1st XI 72 all out by 131 runs.

AFTER a promising start last week the Amateurs put in a disappointing performance last Satur-day against Ambergate.

They won the toss and inserted the home side but soon found themselves up against it with Ambergate batsmen looking to get on top of the bowling right from the start.

Layton and Heath both helped themselves to fifties as Ambergate posted 203.

Amateurs lost wickets early in their innings and despite a lengthy partnership between Chris Meyer and Jack Allen, they never looked like threatening the home side’s total.

They were eventually all out for just 72.

Perfect Start for Amateurs 2nd XI

Belper Amateurs 2nd XI 189-5 beat Denby 75 all out

Following their comprehensive victory last week the 2nd XI were looking to consolidate their lead at the top of division 6 North. Jamie Deeming controversially lost the second toss after the first toss proved inconclusive!

Amateurs were put into bat with youngster Oli Deeming impressing with a patient 76 not out batting through the 46 overs. He was given able support from Dave Trubee who bludgeoned 50 runs including 4 sixes to enable the Ams to post a total of 189 – 5.

In reply Denby never got going, Tom Allen and Oli Deeming bowled well but it was the veteran pace attack trio of Jamie Deeming 3 for 5, Richard Deeming 3 for 16 and Mark Green 2 for 0 who ripped the heart out of the Denby batting.

Eventually they were dismissed for 75 with the Amateurs collecting a maximum 27 points for the second week running.

This weekend the first XI play two home games against Chesterfield and Belper Meadows (Sunday) whilst the 2nd XI play away at Swanwick and Wirksworth.
