HOLBROOK MW Football Club return to training this week in preparation for the season with manager Kevin Bunting very optimistic about the season ahead.
The Shaw Lane outfit look to have retained their squad from last season and look to have brought in a number of new recruits at all levels of the club.
Bunting, who led his side to a third-placed finish in the inaugural East Midlands Counties Footba
ll League campaign last season, said: "We have had an eight week break and now the work starts as we took to improve on last season.
"We have spoke with a number of players and are happy with the type of players we have brought in. Sometimes the hardest work is done in keeping the players we already have."
The club will train three times a week as they prepare for the 2009/10 season and the management team at Shaw Lane have been watching what is happening around the local scene and have spent as much time bringing first team players as they have bringing in young lads for the future.
Lewis Stone, 16, and Niall Mather, 16, have been outstanding for Derby College Football Development Squad and they are as important to the club as the capture of senior players in the future plans of the club.
The backroom staff has been extended with the addition of Stacey Plant as club physio and her addition will be a welcome bonus for the new season as Stacey will combine her studies in Birmingham with her duties at the club.
