SWANWICK Pentrich Road FC made a successful defence of the Belper Charity Nursing Cup (writes Kev Miles).
The Swans won the 2008 tournament after beating Holbrook St Michaels 2-1 in the final staged at Belper Town’s Christchurch Meadow.

Man of the match Brett Sharpe was the Swanwick goalscoring hero as he notched both goals for the winners with substitute Chris Saunders replying for Saints.

A magnificent total of £1700 was raised towards this year’s chosen charities who were The Penguin Club, Belper Stroke Club, Swanwick Primary School and Valley Kids at Swanwick.

The total was given a tremendous boost when competition chairman John Edwards kindly donated £435 to the fund from his recent 65th birthday celebrations.
