DUFFIELD CC first XI put last season's rigours firmly behind them when they enjoyed a winning start to the new County League Division 2 North season last Saturday.
Duffield produced a tight bowling display to restrict visitors DENBY seconds to just 130-8 off 46 overs with P Jordan taking 4-31.

In reply Jordan weighed in 32 not out, T Wilton hit 32 and B Evans led the way with 56 not out as Duffield got home at 134-3 off 36.4 overs to gain 22 points to Denby’s 3.

There was an opening day defeat for AMBERGATE who went down by four wickets at CHESTERFIELD seconds.

Ambergate posted 181-7 off their 46 overs with Holmes top scoring with 56 and Beveridge notching 35. S Moller took 3-39 for the hosts who reached victory at 183-6 at 44.4 overs.

S Westwell top scored for the victors with 57, J Cooper adding 32 despite M Ball taking 4-42.

Chesterfield 22 points, Ambergate 7.
