Amateurs fall to Heanor

Derbyshire County Cricket League

Marston’s Pedigree Division 7N

Belper Amateurs (4pts) 138-7 [46 overs] (M Morris 65, A Matthews 3-19) lost to Heanor Town (22pts) 140-4 [36.3 overs] (A Matthews 48, M Edwards 49*, M Morris 3-48) by 6 wickets

BELPER Amateurs second XI fell to defeat on a day when a strong wind put spectators inside their vehicles whilst the players shivered!

Belper Amateurs batted first and found runs difficult to come by.

Accurate bowling from Steve Morley and Maurice Edwards tied them down and the search for runs meant wickets fell against part-time bowlers Paul Barlow and Andy Matthews.

Only Morris with a battling 65 prevented Heanor impressing further and the innings finished at 138 for 7 with Matthews taking 3 for 19, Barlow 2 for 35 and Morley 2 for 32.

There was a good performance from young wicket keeper Corrie Keable and an excellent skied catch taken by youngster Liam Sloman so Heanor were well satisfied with the fielding

In reply, Matthews completed a good day for himself by making 48 and Edwards made 49 not out and Literski a quick-fire, lifetime best of 21 not out as Heanor claimed victory with ten overs spare and just four wickets down.
