Belper paddlers Ross and Gallin Montgomery have both secured places in the Men’s Great Britain canoe polo squad this summer, and have already tasted success in international competition.

Last weekend, at a warm up tournament in Ypres, Belgium, the GB Men’s team reached the final against the Spanish senior team.

In a very closely-fought final, which saw the teams level 2-2 at half-time and 4-4 at full-time, the game moved to a ‘golden goal’ period in which Gallin scored from a free throw to clinch the trophy.

The squad will now head out to Poland later this week for the European Championships where they play Sweden, Spain and Russia in the opening round.
