Amateurs and Meadows still hold top two spots in division

Belper Amateurs remain ten points clear of Belper Meadows at the top of the Derbyshire Cricket County League’s Division 6N after both sides earned 22 points from their respective victories.

Eight games into the season, both 1st teams have now won five, drawn two and lost one of their fixtures to date.

Belper Amateurs had a local derby with Wirksworth and Middleton 2nds on Saturday at The Packhorse Ground.

Belper won the toss and asked their visitors to bat first.

W&M were duly dismissed for 140 in 46 overs, Chris Maleham taking four wickets and David Nightingale.

Nightingale then scored 25 as Amateurs got home for the loss of six wickets.

Stephen Dymond top-scored for them with 60 not out.

As for Belper Meadows, they were at home to Clowne Town 2nds.

The visitors batted first and made 158-7 from their 46 overs.

Matt Jones took 3-29 from 14 overs and the other wickets were shared around.

Joe Slater (46) and Adam Holland (47) led the way to a seven-wicket victory for Meadows.

This weekend, Belper Meadows are at Nutbrook and Belper Amateurs travel to take on West Hallam WR.
