Belper Amateurs Cricket Club teams are still winless eight games into what has been a disjointed start to the 2012 campaign.
In Derbyshire County League Division 5N, Amateurs firsts fell to a 20-run defeat at second-from-top Langley Mill United seconds.
The home side were dismissed for 202 in 42.5 overs thanks to some superb bowling figures from Jamie Deeming who finished with a ‘five for’ with 5-46 from 14 overs.
Chris Maleham gave good back-up with 3-44 from 7.5 overs. Richard Deeming got the only other wicket to fall as he finished with 1-45 off ten overs.
Langley Mill’s innings was dominated by a knock of 108 by opener Neil Wing.
In reply, the Amateurs innings fell just 20 runs short as they were dismissed for 188 off 38.1 overs.
Top scorer was Steve Dymond, the number three batsman hitting 42. Anthony Boucher hit 41 and Chris Maleham 33 but the home bowlers held sway with Grant Ball taking 4-33 off ten overs, Ryan Cox recording 3-32 from seven overs and Andrew Ball 3-42 off 9.1 overs.
Not for the first time this season, Belper Amateurs had a game cancelled out due to the weather as the heavy rains which fell over the two days before the game left pitches across the county saturated again.
Amateurs seconds had their scheduled division 7N home game against Darley Dale cancelled. Both sides received six points.
