With three matches to go in the season, the promotion charge is still very much on for both Belper Meadows and Belper Amateurs.

The local rivals still occupy the top two places in Division 6N of the Derbyshire County Cricket League, as they have done for much of the season.

On Saturday, Meadows, 24 points clear of Amateurs, dismissed hosts Clowne Town for just 68 as bowler Matt Jones turned in a superb display with figures of 6-18 from 14 overs.

Joe Slater (25 not out) and George Hudson (18 not out) then saw Meadows to a seven-wicket win.

Amateurs were at Wirksworth and Middleton, where Oliver Deeming top scored with 83 out of 225-8. Jake Kington then took 4-31 as the hosts reached 161-6 in the drawn game.
