Belper Meadows bowlers put in the extra effort to make sure their local derby with Hazelwood was able to beat the weather and go ahead.

They took to the green to clear their surface water following the weekend’s downpours and make the surface playable for the Belper Saturday Singles League encounter.

The weather relented just long enoughfor this competitive match to be completed.

Belper Meadows had six winners to Hazlewood’s four, but it was the visitors who took the aggregate 171-176, meaning the points were shared 6-6.

Outstanding match of the day was between Graham Sheldon and Di Ottewell which the home bowler managed to take 21-20.
