Belper Meadows CC 1sts suffered a heavy defeat on Saturday at the hands of Alfreton 2nds in Division 5N of the Derbyshire County Cricket League.
Belper won the toss at Alfreton Park and asked their hosts to bat first.
Alfreton went on to make a decent fist of their innings, eventually compiling 224-9 from their 46 overs.
Jonathan Evans was the top scorer with 48 in the middle order while there were decent knocks too from John Elliott (39) and Joe Noonan (36).
For Belper, Joe Slater took 3-25 while there were two wickets each for Dan Kelly and Richard Howis.
When Meadows came to reply, there was only really one stand of any real note as most of the batsmen found run scoring to be difficult.
Peter Brookes and Adam Holland gave them a steady start but after their departure there was a run of single figure scores and Meadows found themselves up against it.
The bulk of the runs were scored in the lower middle order by Richard Howis with 32 and Matt Jones with 49 not out.
But in the end, Meadows finished well short and were dismissed for 118, to lose by 106 runs.
There was better news for the 2nds as they earned a convincing victory over Alfreton 3rds.
Batting first after losing the toss, Meadows put together a handy total of 182-5 off their 46 overs.
Dylan Garnett was the main runscorer with 69 not out. Tom Hudson scored 26 and Ian Thompson 26 not out.
In reply, Alfreton struggled from the start, in the face of some excellent bowling from Belper Meadows.
They were dismissed for just 67 in 32 overs as Michael Cooper took 5-21 and Dave Boyes and Phil Brammall two wickets each.
