Belper Meadows 1sts lost a nailbiting game against South Wingfield on Saturday by the narrowest of margins in Division 5N of the Derbyshire County Cricket League.
Belper lost the toss and were asked to bat first by their visitors.
Runscoring was not easy for either side and Belper Meadows were eventually dismissed for 139 in 34.2 overs.
George Hudson was the top scorer for Belper with 33 in the middle order.
Dan Kelly also added vital runs lower down the order with 27 not out to help give the Belper Meadows bowlers - including himself - something to bowl at.
For South Wingfield, Rob Borland and Adam Briggs took three wickets apiece.
In reply, the going was equally tough for South Wingfield.
They batted in a painstaking manner that ultimately paid off for them as they got through 48 testing overs before they were able to claim victory by the margin of just one wicket.
For Belper Meadows, Dan Kelly completed another good all-round performance by taking 3-41.
The defeat means that Belper Meadows are now fifth in Division 5N of the DCCL, with four games of the season left, 26 points behind second placed Ashover.
