Dylan Garnett opened the batting with new partner Eddie Green and both settled in and then picked their shots in a terrific opening stand.
Dylan raced to 25 quickly and retired bringing in Owen Patrick who hit two boundaries quickly before losing his wicket to an unfortunate run out. Wykeham Bosworth-Nightingale was moved up the order and also hit a nice boundary before also being run out as Meadows chased the runs.
As the drizzle set in a decision was made to reduce the game to a 16 over match to see if it could be completed. Eddie was joined by Harry Trent for the final over but he fell first ball to a good catch on the boundary. Eddie then hit a six off the last ball to finish on 27 not out.
Meadows returned to the field and the first over from Josh Rockley was very eventful as the opener sent a huge hit spiralling towards Charlie Martin who took a great catch from only the second ball.
His replacement was then smartly run out by Owen Patrick on the fourth ball. George Rains then bowled batter four to leave the remaining opener wondering where his team mates were. Things didn’t improve for him as Charlie Martin came on and bowled batter five without scoring and then had the remaining opener caught behind by Joe Brumby for a patient 19.
There was no luck for Kieran or Harry with the ball but Owen Patrick bowled an impressive two overs by taking one wicket for just one run. He was then well placed to take a good catch off the bowling of Wykeham.
Matlock had fallen well short with 54 from their 16 overs. Wickets for Charlie (2) and one each for Josh, George, Owen, Eddie and Wykeham today. Meadows looked very impressive again and as a result keep the pressure on Baslow at the top of the league – they are the visitors to Christchurch Meadow next week.
Imperial Commercial Vehicles men of the match were Eddie Green and Charlie Martin.
