A bonanza of football

THE ninth Windsor Foods Service Central Midlands League will stage their ninth annual groundhop bonanza in mid-March 2012.

This year’s event will have five matches, one on a Friday evening and a further four games on the Saturday.

Non-League football followers from all over the world flock to the event and come from as far away as Australia, Germany, Sweden, Holland and the UK.

Attendance records are frequently broken at the matches chosen to host the bonanza.

This season’s feast of football begins on Friday, March 16 when Belper United travel to take on Bilborough Pelican.

Kick-off is 7.45pm.

Saturday, March 17 kicks off with Clifton FC v Real United at 10.10am. This is followed by Basford United v Notts Police at 1pm, Dronfield Town v Thoresby CW at 4.30pm and Glapwell FC v Parkhouse at 7.30pm.

Spectators can obtain a five-match advanced package ticket for £15 which includes admission and five home club programmes for all five games.

There is also a coach running from Nottingham Railway Station to the four Saturday matches for only £15 per person.

The coach does fill rather quickly and comes on a first book and pay service, so people hoping to attend are advised not leave it until the last minute to book.

The closing date for advance bookings for the event is Thursday, March 8, 2012.
