A mixed bag for Clay Cross

Clay Cross Town continued a busy opening spell to the season with a 9-2 away win at DFS Welbeck Welfare that kept them on top of the table.

But they suffered their first league defeat away at Humberside team Westella Hanson 3-1 in a game that didnt kick off till 4.30pm after a three-hour stand-still on the M1 last Saturday.

Then on Bank Holiday Monday they suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat at home to local rivals Dronfield Town.

The visitors scorers were Dan Wood and John Doran[2] while Clay Cross’s man on target was Phil Lowry who got both goals.

Clay Cross are at home this Saturday, Septmeber 1 when they entertain Thoresby Colliery with a 3pm kick off.
