Belper Town FC put Matlock Town to the sword in Tuesday night’s FA Cup replay at Christchurch Meadow.
The sides had drawn 2-2 in the first game at the Reynolds Stadium on Saturday, but Belper were well on top in the replay as they won through to a first qualifying round tie at Ilkeston FC.
The Nailers were well worthy of the victory but they had to wait until the 53rd minute before they made the breakthrough.
Jordan Ball was fouled in the penalty area by Matlock’s Adam Yates and the Belper man picked himself up to open the scoring from the spot.
Two minutes later it was 2-0 with Ball netting his second of the tie when he he managed to head the ball over the line following an overhead kick by Richard Stirrup.
Belper added a third goal of the night when Karl Colley despatched a bullet of a header past the Matlock keeper from a Simon Harrison corner.
This Saturday the Nailers are in FA Trophy action at Loughborough Dynamo.
