Belper Town under 18s continued their fine season in the Derby City League - Sunday Junior Division One with a 4-0 win over Borrowash Vics at the weekend.
This was a vital match for the two sides as both had only suffered one league defeat this season.
Borrowash had the better of the early possession but it was the home side that proved the more effective with their swift counter-attacks.
These saw Sam Vickers give them the lead which was further extended to 2-0 by Kurt Dallinson before the interval.
The second half was more comfortable for the young Nailers after Alfie Holland had harried the Vics’ goalkeeper into the kind of mistake that presented him with a goal.
However, the best goal of the match was scored by midfielder Matt Wright, who struck a 25-yard screamer that evaded the desperate dive of the Vics’ keeper and completed a comfortable 4-0 victory for Belper.
They now swap places withBorrowash and move into second in the Derby City League - Sunday Junior Division One table.
They have 29 points from their 12 games to date and are three points behind the leaders New Boulton Phoenix, although Belper also have a game in hand on them.
Next week they will travel to play Heanor Lions, currently sixth in the league.
